Narcotics

Account for every vial, every handoff, every time

Controlled substances leave no room for gaps. Summit tracks Schedule II–V substances from receipt to disposal and preserves a clear chain of custody your team can stand behind.

One complete register

Find the full history in a few clicks

Inventory, boxes, events, counts, discrepancies, and reports all live in one place. Filter by substance, container, or person to quickly answer the questions that come up during a review.

  • Schedules II through V, with strength and form on the substance
  • Optional serial tracking for individual vials
  • Whole-unit accounting with partial doses and waste documented
  • Advance visibility into upcoming expirations

The workflow

From delivery to destruction

  1. 01

    Receive

Log each delivery with its CSOS or Form 222 reference, attach the packing log, and capture a signature.

  2. 02

    Seal & assign

Stock a box to par, seal it, and record the seal number so the entire box can be tracked as one accountable unit.

  3. 03

    Check out

Hand a box to a crew using the process your policy requires: a seal-verified handoff or a witnessed full count.

  4. 04

    Administer & waste

Record the dose administered and any amount wasted, along with witnesses, signatures, and a run number when required.

  5. 05

    Count

Document routine counts, shift handoffs, and the DEA biennial inventory as distinct events in the record.

  6. 06

    Report

Create Form 41 destruction and Form 106 loss worksheets, along with CSV exports, directly from the ledger.

Designed for accountability

What makes the record trustworthy

Capturing an entry is only the beginning. Summit protects the history behind it, so your team can see exactly what happened and address anything that does not add up.

A record that cannot be rewritten

The application cannot edit or delete narcotics events. If someone needs to correct a mistake, Summit adds a new entry so the original record remains intact.

Witnesses captured in the moment

You decide how many witnesses each action requires. Summit captures their attestation and signature when the action happens, not at the end of a shift.

Clear custody at every step

Every box and vial always has a documented holder and location. Shift handoffs transfer custody explicitly and include seal verification.

Discrepancies stay visible

When a count does not reconcile, Summit opens a discrepancy with its own investigation and documented outcome. It cannot simply disappear.

A note on scope

Summit supports your policy. Your agency defines it.

Configure witness requirements, count intervals, checkout limits, and serialization to match your state rules and medical director’s direction. Summit helps your team follow and document that policy; responsibility for the policy itself remains with your agency and its counsel.
